BELIZEAN STUDIES
RESOURCE CENTER
Promoting Research and Thought
From 1973-1995 St. John’s College published BELIZEAN STUDIES, a Journal of Research and Thought on Belize which sought to encourage Belizeans to research and write about Belize: its history, culture and current social realities. SJC was also the home of BISRA (The Belize Institute For Social Research And Action), which from 1973-1979 published the Journal of Belizean Affairs, as well as other occasional publications on historical, social, economic and cultural issues pertinent to Belize. Several other publications are done on issues of current and national interest.
The Belizean Studies Resource Center was recently established to provide three main services to the Belizean community: to educate and inform on national and current issues through the publication of the Journal of Belizean Studies; to educate and inform on national issues by facilitating workshops, forums and national discussions; and finally, to function as a resource center for research on Belizean Studies.
The Belizean Studies Resource Center is run by Ms. Zaira Estrada, who is also editor of the journal.
